The Hazards of Shooting TV Commercials

Making of Commercial Image Grab 800x400

While out on the Saguaro course shooting footage for one of our seasonal television commercials, the film crew got a little wake-up call from our video “talent,” a.k.a. golf pros. The plan was to get a shot of the guys in the fairway hitting shots to the 14th green, with one of We-Ko-Pa’s most scenic views as the spectacular backdrop.

After flaring the first shot into the desert (we left that one on the cutting room floor), Assistant Golf Professional Brett McClellan nailed it. Not sure why we were surprised. He’s that good!

Shortly after he makes a swing, you’ll see the white ball streaking past the frame, almost hitting the camera crew. The good news is the crew is accustomed to the hazards of video production and moved fast! Check it out by clicking on the video below.

It was a bit too close for comfort.
