We-Ko-Pa Golf Club – Arizona’s ultimate golf experience – has a new First Assistant Golf Professional on the grounds after announcing the promotion of longtime We-Ko-Pa standout Josh Minsky. Like many Phoenix-area residents, Minsky is a transplant from West Bend, Wisconsin and has been with We-Ko-Pa for the last 6 years. He will immediately assume assistant responsibilities for golf operations on both of We-Ko-Pa’s award-winning courses.
“I’m beyond excited to start my new role within the We-Ko-Pa family,” said Minsky. “I’m always looking for ways to improve and seeing hard work develop into new personal and professional strengths over time. This should be an exhilarating new chapter and I’m looking forward to it.”
As a congratulations and a show of We-Ko-Pa hospitality, get to know Josh through a quick Q&A.
When did you first realize you wanted a career in golf?
When I was about to graduate high school and looking for a college. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study. My parents jokingly suggested UW-Stout since I was already working at golf courses and there was a Golf Enterprise Management major there. The rest is history.
Who is your favorite PGA TOUR player and why?
Rickie Fowler all the way. His attitude on the golf course is the best on TOUR. He never seems to get angry, always has a sense of humor and has the grit to stick with it on a bad day. His resilience during the 2019 WMPO was extraordinary.
What is your dream foursome and where are you playing?
Dream foursome? Definitely David Feherty, Arnold Palmer, & Lee Trevino. Should be a lot of laughs in that group. As for the course, if we’re not playing We-Ko-Pa in Scottsdale, I would want take those guys up to Bandon for a four-day trip. I’m not rooming with Feherty though.
Describe your first memory on the golf course.
My grandfather took me out for my first round of golf when I was 9 at a small course in my hometown in Wisconsin called West Bend Lakes. Obviously, I was very excited to spend some time with him, but I might have been a little too excited because I carded a 16 on my first hole.
Congratulations on your new post, Mr. Minsky
