Everyone who lives – or plays golf – in Arizona for long enough comes up with their own ways to beat the heat out on the course. For some, the secret is cold towels and a great hat to keep the sun off their face and neck. Others opt for a cold beer, mixed in with a few waters of course. To each their own we always say. But for those who are uninitiated to our secret weapon out at We-Ko-Pa, let us be the first to introduce to you a new twist on one of golf’s greatest on-course cocktails – the “frozen” transfusion.
The transfusion cocktail has some pretty serious history. Legend has it the original drink featuring vodka, grape juice and ginger ale was a favorite of one of golf’s biggest ambassadors President Eisenhower – 34th Commander in Chief of the United States of America. There’s no need to campaign for this cocktail, of course. At We-Ko-Pa’s Saguaro Grille, you can just ask for one.
Our frozen transfusion takes all the drinkability and refreshment of the standard cocktail and adds an unmatched, frosty, beat-the-heat factor you cant find anywhere other than your childhood memories of slurping frozen drinks by the pool. Frankly, it’s a game changer.
The drink also has a unique name. Why is it called a Transfusion?
Though its exact origins remain a mystery, legend has it this concoction was born to cure hangovers. Packed with ginger for settling the stomach, grape juice for a dose of electrolytes, and vodka to kickstart the day, it’s said to revive you post-party, akin to a life-saving transfusion. Makes sense! And for those who want to make their own, here’s a quick recipe. Remember, always drink responsibly on and off the golf course.
