The game of golf is old. It’s tested. It’s true.
So is great wine.
There’s something about a well-struck golf shot that reminds you of your connection to the Earth. Just like there’s something about a perfectly paired bottle of wine with dinner that makes an excellent meal an unforgettable experience – especially shared with friends.
We-Ko-Pa is proud to announce our flagship restaurant Ember received its fourth Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence – that’s four in a row – proving We-Ko-Pa’s sophistication and commitment to excellence extends far beyond the very best golf courses in the State.
Ember is one of only 15 restaurants in Arizona – one of 1,500 in the whole world – to receive the distinction which recognizes superior range of winegrowing regions from which to choose and presentation of your choice. And to even be considered, all staff also must display a deep, professional knowledge of the wine they recommend to each guest. It’s kind of a big deal.
Ember’s Wine Spectator honor is due in large part to its Sommelier Dennis Payne who has carefully curated one of the Valley’s most extensive wine lists.
“Obviously, we’re thrilled to receive this award, but the real honor is in the experience we provide to our guests,” said Payne. “We want to help people understand and appreciate our labels. We want the character of the wines we serve to reflect the character of our guests. Wine is about joy and passion, and when we serve our guests, we feel that joy and passion too.”
Your post-round dining experience at Ember isn’t limited to exceptional wine, of course. Ember is a destination dining experience offering the highest quality steaks and seafood prepared over wood-fired grills, knock-your-socks-off cocktails and a whiskey library that would make Kentucky blush. All provided, of course, by a world-class service staff in an intimate – yet energetic – setting accompanied by live music from the chic piano lounge.
Launched in 1981, the Restaurant Awards represent the world’s only program focused exclusively on restaurant wine service. They are assigned on three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award.
