We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is back on top – again.

In Golfweek’s 2025 “Best Courses You Can Play” rankings, Saguaro retained its spot as Arizona’s No. 1 public golf course. That marks 17 times in the last 18 years that a We-Ko-Pa track has led the state – a streak built not on marketing, but on merit. And for a golf destination that avoids gimmicks and distractions, the consistency speaks volumes.

Also recognized: Cholla, ranked No. 11 in Arizona. Known for its bold layout and rugged edge, Cholla continues to earn high marks more than two decades after its debut. With both courses consistently inside the state’s top tier, We-Ko-Pa remains one of the few destinations in Arizona with multiple layouts judged among the very best.

The annual Golfweek rankings are based on the input of more than 850 experienced course raters from across the country. These panelists evaluate thousands of courses based on ten key criteria – from overall routing and variety, to shot options, memorability, conditioning, and the “walk in the park” test (yes, that’s a real category – and Saguaro scores high). The panel’s collective expertise and structured scoring system make Golfweek’s rankings one of the most respected measuring sticks in the industry.

Saguaro, a Coore & Crenshaw design, continues to impress for its playability, walkability, and natural integration with the surrounding desert. It doesn’t chase trends. It sets a tone – understated, authentic, and deeply enjoyable.

Set on Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation land, both courses remain refreshingly free of homes and development. That sense of openness is more than just a visual luxury – it’s part of what makes a round at We-Ko-Pa feel like a true escape.

The courses aren’t built to impress panels. But when the panels speak, and the results sound like this – well, it’s worth a quiet nod.

Simply put, We-Ko-Pa delivers.
