Hi-Tech GPS In Each Cart Will Speed Up Play and Provide Accurate Distances
Management at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is pleased to announce the launch of new fleet of 160 golf carts equipped with GPS. For the first time in club history, Club Car was chosen to carry golfers around Cholla and Saguaro. And they’re doing it in style.
We-Ko-Pa went with the cashmere-colored Precedent i3 model armed with Visage™ Connected® technology, which among other things sports GPS that tells golfers distances to the front green, the pin and the back of the green. In addition, golfers can use the touch-screen monitors to get carry yardages to or over trouble such as bunkers and desert wash areas. While standing on the tee, they can also touch/select the wide part of fairway to receive a distance to that area.
Other features include a static hole layout and yardage graphic; flyovers overviews; live tournament scoring; electronic scorecard; messaging from golf shop to each cart; and two USB ports per cart. The system also automatically warns golfer to steer around areas that are off limits to golf cart traffic.
No doubt that one of the main issues with the game is the time it takes to play. Since the carts are hooked up to GPS, management can easily monitor the pace of play for each group and make the needed adjustments to get everybody back into position.
“The new carts give us a much more detailed picture of what’s going on out on the golf courses,” said Matt Barr, general manager of We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. “They also provide golfers with valuable information to make their day more enjoyable. It’s the best of both worlds.”
In addition to the ringing endorsement by the guys at We-Ko-Pa, the Precedent i3 received Golf Digest’s 2016 Editors’ Choice Award for Best Golf Car. Next time you tee it up at We-Ko-Pa, you’re in for a treat.
