Another year, another impressive accolade for We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. The most recent addition to the ever-growing list of awards bestowed upon Arizona’s Ultimate Golf Experience comes from Golfweek which published its list of the best golf courses in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. There are quite a few great tracks here in the Valley of the Sun – the area is quickly becoming one of the finest golf destinations in the whole world – but sitting at No. 1 is our very own Saguaro course designed by world-renowned architect duo Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The Cholla course – designed by Scott Miller – isn’t far behind at No. 6.

“There’s no shortage of incredible golf properties in the Valley and we’re extremely proud just to be included in this group of outstanding experiences,” said Matt Barr, general manager of We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. “But to have Saguaro in the top spot and Cholla not far back at No. 6 means, collectively, We-Ko-Pa stacks up to just about any public access property anywhere in the southwest. Our staff and guests understand what it means to receive this recognition and we’re absolutely thrilled.”
As a brief reminder, here is how Golfweek approaches their rating system:
Golfweek’s extensive panel of course raters, numbering in the hundreds, consistently assesses golf courses based on 10 specific criteria. They score each criterion on a scale from 1 to 10 and also provide a singular, comprehensive rating for each course. These overall ratings are then averaged to formulate all of Golfweek’s Best course rankings.
The courses featured in our rankings are publicly accessible in various ways. This includes the standard daily green fees, availability through a resort, or access for guests staying at associated hotels. Essentially, if you’re determined to play, you’ll find a way to secure a tee time – no membership is necessary.
