There’s something special about seeing We-Ko-Pa through the eyes of someone experiencing it for the first time.

Recently, the team at New England Golf visited Fort McDowell and spent time exploring everything that makes this place so unique — from the quiet beauty of the Sonoran Desert to the distinct personalities of both Saguaro and Cholla. Their feature captured so many of the things we hope every guest feels when they arrive here: the sense of escape, the connection to the land and the feeling that golf can still exist untouched by the outside world.

In the article, writer Rob Duca describes the experience of playing golf surrounded by unobstructed mountain views, native desert landscapes and “not a house or condo anywhere in sight.” That’s always been part of what makes We-Ko-Pa different. Here, the desert is the star. The golf simply fits within it.

We especially appreciated the way the story highlighted the contrast between our two courses. Saguaro’s walkable, strategic Coore & Crenshaw design and Cholla’s dramatic elevation changes and bold visuals are intentionally different experiences, but together they create what we believe is one of the most complete 36-hole golf destinations anywhere in the Southwest.

Of course, no visit to Fort McDowell is complete without experiencing the larger destination around the golf club. From the amenities at We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort to the hospitality throughout the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, we’re proud anytime visitors take the time to understand that We-Ko-Pa is more than just a golf trip. It’s a place.

To the team at New England Golf, thank you for spending time with us and for telling our story so thoughtfully. We loved hosting you and hope your readers enjoy learning a little more about this special corner of the Sonoran Desert.
