Founded in 2008 as a 501c(3) organization, the Yavapai Indian Foundation provides philanthropic support to the Yavapai Nation and its people. The Foundation’s main focus is to preserve the Yavapai heritage, culture and language through ongoing initiatives: encouraging healthy lifestyles; contributing to educational programs; building an assisted living center for the elderly; a new youth gymnasium and swimming pool; and many other worthy causes.
We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Cholla course reopened on October 28th after a $1.8 million renovation project to update vital elements of the award-winning golf experience that invariably require attention with time. As anyone who has played We-Ko-Pa Golf Club will tell you, one of the many things it has going for it is the incredible natural surroundings. The golf facility is located on an untouched piece of Sonoran Desert on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation minutes from Scottsdale.
At the end of August, a video production crew assembled by longtime pals John Vasseur and Terry O’Neal set out to capture the spectacular views that golfers at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club have been enjoying for the last 15 years. We decided to tag along to produce a behind-the-scenes clip of them in action.

Things are moving along smoothly just one month into the Cholla Course renovation project. We-Ko-Pa’s top-notch agronomy team completed the sprigging process for the greens on the front-9 and they are now moving on to the back nine this week.
