The love of the game and the chance to sneak 9 holes in just before dark is part of the reason We-Ko-Pa’s staff is so committed to keeping their promise to the customer, but it’s what customers have to say about the club that makes everyone proud. The Sonoran Desert, more specifically the Valley of the Sun, has been a perennial winter destination for our Canadian neighbors to the north for decades. It’s no secret as to why. Spectacularly mild winters and a host of world-class events like the Waste Management Phoenix Open and Barrett Jackson Car Auction open up the Scottsdale area for loads of fun.

It’s time for the second round of Six Degrees of We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, and we can’t think of a better topic than The Masters set to tee it up in early April at the hallowed grounds of Augusta National.

Spring Training and golf – what a wonderful pair. Cactus League play is right around the corner, and if you’re planning on soaking in the winter sun, catching a few ball games and playing a few rounds of golf, man, do we have good news.

When you’re teeing it up at We-Ko-Pa, it’s easy to notice the lack of noise pollution that clouds most of the Valley. The warm silence of nature and its uncanny ability to aid focus, and help a few off the toe find their way to the cup, makes everything feel a little closer to home. At We-Ko-Pa, it’s mostly about feeling connected, which is why we’ve taken an interesting spin on a popular game about an ever shrinking world: Six Degrees of Separation – We-Ko-Pa Golf Club.

Last year’s 26th edition of the UFO convention drew thousands of people to We-Ko-Pa Resort and Conference Center to recount their own stories and paranormal experiences. This year, the 27th edition promises a who’s who lineup of speakers including former intelligence offers, military whistleblowers, authors, lecturers and filmmakers all looking to spread the word of alien visitors.

Picking out the perfect holiday gift for the golfer in your life can be harder than Christmas morning without coffee. With all the different brands, club lengths, shafts, lofts and styles, making sure you see a smile when the wrapping paper comes off is a challenge no one wants to go through.

Bill Coore – half of the Coore & Crenshaw design team responsible for We-Ko-Pa’s Saguaro course – was recently inducted into the Arizona Golf Hall of Fame. The 2017 Arizona Golf Hall of Fame Committee also inducted four other members including superintendent Shawn Emerson, LPGA professionals Betsy King and Kathy Cornelius and PGA section professional Cliff Whittle.

One of the most appealing traits of We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Saguaro course is the diversity of challenges found throughout the 18-hole journey. From wide and long to short and strategic, the Coore-Crenshaw-designed layout throws just about every device at golfers to keep things interesting. The 13th hole is a great example of the swing-away-type par 4 sprinkled throughout.

Whether you’re grabbing a bite to eat before your round or enjoying a drink and cigar afterwards, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s patio is the perfect setting for relaxation. In the summer, the patio is the perfect place to get out of the desert heat with expansive shady areas and umbrellas.

Long known as one of the best tracks in Arizona since the first tee shot in 2006, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Saguaro course is now getting the national recognition it deserves. Just last May, Golf Digest announced its “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses,” with We-Ko-Pa’s Saguaro course coming in at No. 98 – one of only two Arizona courses on the list.

The opening hole on We-Ko-Pa’s Cholla course makes an unforgettable first impression – for several reasons. The most obvious upon arrival at the tee box is its visually appealing natural setting. The elevated vantage point overlooks untouched Sonoran Desert as the fairway sweeps from right to left with a backdrop dominated by Red Mountain. The ride down from the tee box through thick desert, which just served as the “carry,” usually flushes a covey of quail among other critters. It’s the first glimpse of what many consider to be one the best golf experiences in the Scottsdale area.
